“Beauty is about finding the right fit, the most natural fit. To be perfect you have to feel perfect about yourself- avoid trying to be something you are not.” This is a quote from one of the many books I read. Being inspired by just a few simple books may sound silly, but the books teach lessons that are, in my opinion, more useful than what you learn on a daily basis.
I started to love reading when I was in kindergarten. Before, my mom read me simple books that I loved to listen to, but I never actually read one myself. My school, ACE, had an advanced reading program for our grade level, and I was in it. We were going to take turns reading chapters from a book called The Boxcar Children. I was nervous, because it was my first time reading a chapter book, but also excited. After the first meeting was over, I was exuberant. I had read part of a chapter successfully, without any mistakes! I decided, then and there, that reading was fantastic.
Now, five years later, I’m an avid reader with dreams of being an author someday. If you ask me about a book I read, I won’t tell you the exact words, or chapter names, but I will be able to say my favorite parts, the pages that made me laugh, and the pages that made me cry. I’m not one of those people who can memorize every book they ever read, but what I can do is learn from the characters.
From the Heroes of Olympus series alone, I have learned to never give up, to be my own legacy, knowledge is the greatest power, beauty lies within, and so on. Each character is unique and has imperfections, but they’re all amazing in their own way. Books have guided me, taught me important lessons, and motivated me. So, if you ask me who inspired me, I wouldn’t say the name of some famous celebrity. I would simply tell you that it’s not a who, it’s a what. Books will always be there for me.

Annie,
Life is a book. We read it, write it, and share it.

The young author uses delicate writing to show the story of how the book made her grow step by step. Very impressive!
I enjoyed reading your story. It reminds me how I desired to read every book I could buy or borrow when I was young. Good writing !👍
