李飞飞 (Fei Fei Li) (1976-) is a famous computer scientist, educator, non-profit executive in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), computer vision and congestive neuroscience. She is the Sequoia Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University, and Co-Director of Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute (HAI). She also served as a Vice President at google and the Chief Scientist at Google Cloud during 2017-2018.
Born in Beijing, China, in 1976, Dr. Li moved to the US at age of 15. In 1999, she obtained her B.A. degree in physics from Princeton with High Honors, and her PhD degree in electrical engineering from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2005. From 2013 to 2018, she served as the Director of Stanford’s AI Lab.
Fascinated by neuroscience, she has been leading the interdisciplinary approach with human focus in AI research. Dr. Li published 200 scientific articles in major journals. She has received numerous academic awards and recognition for her scientific contribution, including one of the “Great Immigrants: The Pride of America” in 2016 by the Carnegie Foundation, past winners include Albert Einstein, Yo Yo Ma, et al.
She is also a national leading voice for advocating diversity in STEM and AI. In 2017, Dr. Li co-founded the national non-profit AI4ALL aimed at increasing inclusion and diversity in AI education.
