萧志美（Anna Sui） is one of New York’s most beloved and accomplished fashion designers, known for creating contemporary original clothing inspired by spectacular amounts of research into vintage styles and cultural arcana. She was named one of the “Top 5 Fashion Icons of the Decade” and in 2009 earned the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), joining the ranks of Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Diane von Furstenberg. For her innovative work, Sui has been called a designer who “never panders” by The New York Times.
Anna Sui is a second-generation Chinese-American born in Detroit, Michigan. By the time she was four years old, Sui knew she wanted to be a fashion designer. When she was a teen, she read an article in Life Magazine about the achievements of Mia Fonssagrives-Solow who graduated from Parsons The New School for Design in New York City and then moved to Paris. She then moved to New York and attended Parsons. “You have to focus on your dreams, even if they go beyond common sense. How could this young girl from the suburbs of Detroit become a success in New York?! it was always that dream.” She says.
Sui’s brand categories include several fashion lines, footwear, cosmetics, fragrances, eyewear, jewelry, accessories, home goods and a gifts line. Today Anna Sui has over 50 boutiques in eight countries and her collection and products are sold in 300 stores in over 30 countries.
