朱棣文 (Steven Chu) was born in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1948. He is a distinguished physicist , co-winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics (1997), and the 12th United States Secretary of Energy under the administration of President Barack Obama. Dr. Steven Chu is widely renowned for his research regarding the cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, for which he shared the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics with Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and William Daniel Phillips. He has devoted his recent scientific career to the search for new solutions to our energy and climate challenges – a mission he continues with even greater urgency as Secretary of Energy.
