Not the Ideal Life

Alright, I realize the past year hasn’t been ideal for anyone. I’ve got vacations canceled, forced to look at a screen for 6+ hours a day. Though, I’m still here right? You know, our family was supposed to go to Italy last year. But with all the stuff going on here, I might as well be landing on Mars. I know it doesn’t do me/you any good whining here, but I’m positive I’m here to tell you what my life as an Asian American is like. Right?

My life hasn’t been easy, even before quarantine started. I came home from school and almost immediately hopped in the car and drove off to fencing. Well, that was the average day. Some days I went straight to math class instead of fencing and sometimes we even went to Kung Fu. Those days were better than my quarantine days, but to be honest any day is better than my quarantine days. As soon as quarantine started my whole schedule changed.

When quarantine started, my computer time started to increase greatly. In COVID, I sometimes thrived in my classes, sometimes didn’t. I started to meet with my friends less and less. Sometimes I feel like I’m all alone in the world. But it all stopped about a month ago.

About a month ago, I started to take my SOLS and for god’s sake, finally meet my friends. I honestly didn’t think I would make it out. Sadly, by the time you are reading this I won’t be taking any more SOLS so I’ll be in partial isolation again. Perhaps the only pro my mother says is that now she gets to spend more time at home. I don’t get it, to be honest I don’t get anything at this time of year but I guess it is what it is.

I love being an Asian American, it’s who I am. I realize that I didn’t share much about being an Asian American but what I did do is open up about my life.
